The attractions of Khao Lak are impressive, but not very flashy. The lovely little parks, mountains, roads, and unspoiled nature with accommodation ranging from luxury to more casual support Western tourists. Plus, the local customs and the way of Thai life are also the features to appeal the visitors.
Khao Lak is surrounded by National Parks, making eco-friendly option of tourism. Tourists are free to choose between a waterfall tour, a sea canoe tour, a visit to Similan or Surin islands and an elephant trekking as well or simply hiking in the park. During the rainy season white the water level is high, you can do a temple tour. Rent a jeep and go exploring the countryside around which is a fun way to learn more about this wonderful land.
When coming to Khao Lak, local transport is not strength. You can rent bicycles or motorbikes from guesthouses or hotels. Make a nice trip to Lampi Waterfall which will take about half an hour southwards from Khao Lak. This is a beautiful waterfall, especially in the early morning as the sun arises from behind the mountains, shining through the mist. To the north is Khao Sok National Park, Saori Foundation Centre and Takua Pa & Old Town.
In short, Khao Lak is an ideal place for those who are seeking to get off the treadmill and family getaways, and of course for nature lovers.
